The Mindfulness Cliche

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

In recent years there has been a constant debate about the wonders of a new version of the positive psychology of mindfulness. This leaves me wondering whether a substance to this or that is yet another pop psychology mantra waiting to be pushed aside by the next trend. Is this unjustified panacea, just another placebo claiming miraculous results, or an important therapeutic concept. My intention here is to explore the origin, foundation, and the potential value of psychotherapy attentionĀ  and its relationship to hypnosis.

I was first introduced to the concept when I attended a three-day workshop jointly conducted by two psychologists at an annual conference each December in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The presenters were Mark S. Weisberg, PhD, an established authority in mindĀ  body healing practices in Minnesota, and Ronald D. Siegel, PsyD, which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Since then I have become familiar with the work of Richard J. Davidson, PhD, a Harvard trained scientist employed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Tenzin Nagi, PhD, at Emory University in Atlanta.

The common theme in their work is the belief that focused attention can and will affect the physiological structure of the body and can have an effect on behavioral problems. This seems part of a mind , body continuum that has examined the role of stress on the body, and the beneficial effect of compassion meditation on the body’s production of stress-related cortisol and the presence of oxytocin in the cranial Dr. Davidson cavity correlates with the recent negative stress triggers – the more oxytocin, the negativity of a more tolerant person.

Effects About a Drug

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

This article module review a drug. There are several opinions and also explanations most its effect. The news is supported on a true and actual undergo of a friend of mine. She wants to ask others opinion most MSM. She found whatever information most it earlier, and has just picked up whatever MSM tablets to try.

She wants to undergo what kind of results can be expected. She also has got whatever olive leaf select as well. My friend has been taking MSM since the summer last assemblage and it allowed her to go soured her allergy and asthma medications. She didn’t attending an appreciable difference in her yeast and she ease proven high for candida after a few months of MSM. Another undergo is deal by another friend of mine, Ann.

She started MSM for pair weeks already. This morning she woke up and thought ’something’s wrong’, and it took her a good ten transactions to realize that her look was not running, her eyes weren’t itching and streaming, and she was not sneezing her nous off.All the symptoms of her detritus mite allergy, which resurfaced two months ago, have gone. Time module verify if it is a fluke, but this is the first instance in months that she has not woken up in allergy-land, and the MSM is the exclusive abstract that’s changed! I don’t conceive what Ann has is a fluke, this was exactly my undergo with MSM daylong instance ago and I had not had to go backwards on decongestants or antihistamines except for a pair days in ragweed season.

Treat Individuals With Disabilities

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

We see individual with disabilities everyday. Although you might think there are not that many, this is not exactly the case. There are over 54 million Americans that hit some sort of a disability, that is over one ordinal of the country. Some hit very obvious forms of physical disabilities and some of them need resource with mobility devices. One reason why you don’t see some disabled people, is due to mobility concerns. Travel can be quite difficult and availableness is complicated for them without assistance. So if you see someone with a disability, the simplest gestures mean a lot. Be courteous to them, hold a door open for them, give them room to maneuver, and please do not park in a handicap parking space. One thing that will not outlay you anything, but will reward you immensely is to give them a smile and a simple hello. We need to treat people that hit disabilities with attitude and dignity, they didn’t chose to be that way. This quote is an unfortunate thought that is felt by some disabled people who get stared at when they are out. The worst thing you can do is countenance at us. Children will countenance out of curiosity, adults countenance out of ignorance.

When you foregather someone with a disability, the most important thing to do is to foregather the person not the disability. Many people pull away from any one with a disability. Instead, get to know these people they hit a lot to offer. If we countenance past their disability, you might find terrific, amusing, sensitives, intelligent people. Some of the most intelligent and prominent people hit been in wheelchairs. Franklin D. Roosevelt who had polio was in a wheelchair during his entire presidency, he was the only president to be elected 4 times. Some are very talented as well, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder contemplate us with their music. There are so some talented, successful, brilliant people who happen to be disabled. Some people are born with a disability, others develop them some time in their life. Remember a disability can effect anyone, even a love one, at any time.
